Previous Fairs

The Richmond May Fair began  just over fifty years ago with a few stalls around St Mary Magdalene Church and became so popular that it now fills Richmond Green.  It is the town's biggest community event and gives local charities the opportunity to publicise their work and raise much needed funding.

When Liz Carran and Peter Forster, who had organised it for many years, retired in 2018, Be Richmond stepped in so there could be a Fair in 2019. The Richmond May Fair has always been run by volunteers and in 2023 a new Community Group was formed and after a three year gap, The Richmond May Fair was revived!

The 2023 Richmond May Fair returned with a wonderful array of local charity stalls and welcomed, for the first time, local small business stallholders to advertise and sell their wares complementing the Craft Fair inside the luxurious marquee. The Richmond May Fair wouldn't be complete without the magnificent Victorian Fun Fair, which was more popular than ever for our young people!  Visitors weren’t kept hungry as they could feast on the usual charity barbecues run by Friends of St Matthias and First Richmond Scout Group offering a fabulous range of food and drink catering for every taste including vegan. The Dog Show attracted a huge number of entries and onlookers. Judge Ian Stroud from Pet People had a difficult job choosing the winners!

We look forward to another great event in 2024 and welcoming you there!
